A trent’anni dall’uscita del loro primo album, gli X-Rated riaccendono le distorsioni con una nuova edizione di To Grow Dark, tra inediti ritrovati e la voglia di tornare a far rumore. Thirty years after the release of their debut album, X-Rated bring the distortion back to life with a new edition of To Grow Dark — featuring rediscovered unreleased tracks and a renewed urge to make noise.

Nel 1995 usciva To Grow Dark, il primo album degli X-Rated. Un disco ruvido, viscerale, pieno di rabbia e malinconia, che sembrava arrivare direttamente dal cuore oscuro degli anni ’90.
In 1995, To Grow Dark was released — the debut album by X-Rated. A raw, visceral record, full of anger and melancholy, as if it had emerged straight from the dark heart of the '90s.

A distanza di trent’anni, la band veronese torna con una versione rimasterizzata dello stesso album, arricchita da due inediti risalenti alle primissime prove: Never Lose Hope e Narcissus.
Thirty years later, the band from Verona is back with a remastered version of the same album, enriched with two unreleased tracks from their earliest rehearsals: Never Lose Hope and Narcissus.

Ma questa non è solo una ristampa. È un atto di memoria, un omaggio a un’epoca e a un’attitudine.
But this isn’t just a reissue. It’s an act of remembrance — a tribute to an era and an attitude.

L’inizio: chitarre scordate e sogni distorti

Gli X-Rated nascono a Verona nei primi anni ’90, tra garage polverosi, fanzine fotocopiate e demo su cassetta.
X-Rated was born in Verona in the early '90s, among dusty garages, photocopied fanzines, and cassette demos.

Il nucleo originario della band include See Jay alla voce, Zampi alla batteria, Piga al basso, e Cesco e Boska alle chitarre.
The original lineup included See Jay on vocals, Zampi on drums, Piga on bass, and Cesco and Boska on guitars.

All’inizio avevano strumenti economici, ma idee chiare: unire l’intensità del grunge con l’energia dell’hard rock, mantenendo un’estetica cupa, ruvida, autentica.
In the beginning, they had cheap instruments but clear ideas: to fuse the intensity of grunge with the energy of hard rock, keeping a dark, gritty, authentic aesthetic.

La voce graffiante di See Jay, i riff taglienti delle chitarre, le linee di basso ipnotiche di Piga e la batteria martellante di Zampi creavano un suono riconoscibile, pieno di identità.
See Jay's raw vocals, the sharp guitar riffs, Piga’s hypnotic bass lines, and Zampi’s pounding drums created a recognizable, identity-rich sound.

30 anni dopo: la luce nella nostalgia
30 Years Later: Finding Light in Nostalgia

Per il trentennale, la band si è riunita in studio con il produttore Andrew Kyo per ridare nuova vita al disco.
For the thirtieth anniversary, the band reunited in the studio with producer Andrew Kyo to breathe new life into the record.

Le due tracce inedite, riprese da vecchie cassette delle prove del ’94, sono state reincise con la formazione originale.
The two unreleased tracks, recovered from old rehearsal tapes from ’94, were re-recorded with the original lineup.

X-Rated oggi: non una reunion, ma un ritorno
X-Rated Today: Not a Reunion, but a Return

Questa nuova uscita non è una semplice operazione nostalgica. È il desiderio di raccontare, ancora una volta, cosa significa To Grow Dark — crescere, sì, ma anche accettare le proprie ombre.
This new release isn’t just a simple nostalgic operation. It’s the desire to tell again what To Grow Dark means — to grow, yes, but also to embrace one’s shadows.

Gli X-Rated non sono mai stati una band fatta per piacere a tutti. Ma forse è proprio per questo che, dopo trent’anni, il loro suono continua a parlare forte e chiaro.
X-Rated was never a band made to please everyone. But maybe that’s exactly why, after thirty years, their sound still speaks loud and clear.

Il primo brano tratto dalla nuova versione dell’album sarà disponibile dal 25 aprile su tutte le piattaforme di streaming audio.
The first track from the new version of the album will be available starting April 25 on all audio streaming platforms.
